Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is the preferred product for protecting the surfaces of the new amenities block at one of its busiest stations in the centre of Brisbane, Qld, Australia.
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating – gloss, was applied to various substrates including porous and glazed tiles, grouting, aluminium edging and various stainless steel fittings. Not only does it protect these various surfaces, it also enhances their overall appearance – now and for years to come.
Due to its ability to repel continuous graffiti attacks (permanent markers, paint) and its easy to clean surface, Unicoatings 2k Anti Graffiti coating defends against the continuous build up of grime and reduces the cleaning time on all applied surfaces.
These Architectural Panels have been “artistically” designed and perforated to visually enhance an overhead Road Bridge that crosses the main highway at Richlands, Brisbane, Qld. To ensure that the customers desire for the highest quality and protection were met, Unicoatings Sandblasted and Powder Coated the panels prior to applying the 2k Protective coating.
Unicoatings 2k Protective coating was chosen for this project due to its resistance to graffiti, ability to self clean (reducing the appearance of road grime) and its ability to protect from the harsh Australian sun while still enhancing the overall appearance of the panels.
The major safety issue of light reflecting from the architectural panels was resolved through using Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating in Matt finish.
The Advantages
Permanent Coating
Traditional protective coatings are only semi-permanent or sacrificial. Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is a permanent coating. Alternative coatings are adversely affected by chemicals and cleaners used in the cleaning process, resulting in the need for regular re-coating. Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is resistant to most common chemicals including acids and alkalines.
Water Safe
Unicoatings Protective Coating has passed testing and is compliant to AS 4020:2005. This means, our 2k Protective Coating can be safely used to protect surfaces requiring contact with drinking water, eg drinking fountains etc…
Self Cleaning
With its Nano structure, dirt and dust are less likely to stick to coated surfaces and are easily washed off by rain in exposed external applications. The application of the protective coating also aids in disinfection and sanitization.
Versatile
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating can be applied to practically any surface without the need for special pre-treatments. As long as the surface is clean and free of contaminants, the product can be applied to concrete, brick, glass, metal, painted plaster board and all other common building materials. For porous surfaces, we recommend the surface be first sealed where possible to avoid excessive consumption.
Easy to Apply
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is best applied by spraying (HVLP) or rolling. It can also be applied by brushing or ragging. The coating should be applied by a trained applicator. Unicoatings can arrange training.
Heat Resistant
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is heat resistant to 150°C. When a fire is lit in close proximity to a coated wall, a quick hose down and a sweep is all that is required to return the wall to new.
Cost and Time Saving Value
Economical
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is applied as a very thin layer. Due to this application, rates of 25—60 square meters per litre can be achieved depending on the application method and the porosity and type of the substrate. This excellent coverage makes the coating cost competitive to other coatings capable of lesser performance.
UV Protection
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating gives a high level of protection to the sun’s rays when used in exterior locations. This reduces the fading typically experienced on painted and lacquered surfaces.
Corrosion and Stain Resistant
Due to its tight molecular structure, Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating offers a highly effective barrier against corrosion, that is superior to other coatings. Stains and other contaminants such as bird or bat droppings are easily washed without damage to the coated surface.
Colour Neutral
Unicoatings 2k Protective Coating is an optically neutral coating that does not affect the appearance of the substrate coating or material. It is available in both gloss and matt finishes.
Recoating
Surfaces coated with Unicoatings Protective Coating rarely need recoating as the substrate is sealed and protected. Where a surface does need to be repainted due to a required colour change or similar, the surface can be prepared by mechanical sanding and priming. If the coated surface has been badly scratched or abraded, it can be repaired quickly and easily at the affected areas.
Graffiti Removal
Once coated surfaces have been attacked, graffiti can often be removed by simple citrus based household cleaners or by any standard graffiti removal product.
